Voters bring passion to the polls

The City of Pittsburgh has become a focal point of the 2024 Presidential Election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Whether free speech or women’s rights, voters had many strong motivators bringing them the polls.

Cathy Gamble, 64, from Lawrenceville said voting is important because the results of the election affect everyone.

“Voting is our right that people in our past fought for,” Gamble said. “The person who is elected president will be making decisions that will impact us all.”

Regardless of who they cast their ballot for, many agreed that voting is an important right to exercise, especially during the Presidential Election.

Ava Leigh, 20, from Shadyside says that voting is the best opportunity for people to use their voice.

“Voting is a great way for people to take part and be an active member of the community,” she said.

Yen-Yu Usami, an immigrant from Japan in his sixties, said he’s voting for his home nation.

“All of the nations need independence, especially our nation Japan,” he said. “I believe Trump can realize worldwide peace.”

Women’s rights are a strong motivator for other voters.

Jodi Kerlin, 45, from Penn Hills, said that the women in America are facing having fewer rights than the women that came before them.

“This election is about getting our democracy back,” Kerlin said. “This election is about ridding division in the United States.”
